Resolution over 400 dpi may slow down the OCR process without any benefit or may also adversely affect the OCR result. By default, your ScanSoft application should be set to scan at 300 dpi. You can set a different resolution if the native user interface is enabled. Note: If you experience any timing issues when using the "Automatic scan pages" feature in OmniPage, you may select a longer delay between scans to allow the scanner to complete the scanning cycle.įor most OCR jobs, scanning should be done at 300 dpi (dots per inch) resolution. You may consider changing options such as scan image type to Black and White. In the scanner’s User Interface, ensure that it can scan a document with a resolution of 300dpi. If a TWAIN driver is installed, you may have to test your scanner in a different application. MS Paint on XP only scans with WIA drivers, it does not support TWAIN drivers.
